Mawar Community Services (MCS) previously known as Muslim Counselling Service was set up in 1978 as an offshoot of Majlis Pusat. Majlis Pusat was established in 1969 by Malay/Muslim leaders to forge unity within the community, especially during uncertain times following the separation of Singapore from Malaysia.
The name change in 2024 was to reflect a more inclusive approach that MCS was not only open to Muslims but ex-offenders from other races and religions as well. The word counselling was also replaced with community because of the community related work which MCS beneficiaries and ex-offenders are involved.
MCS’ main objective is to help ex-offenders to reintegrate into the community upon their release.
